I found that this was one of those books where you're pulled into the world without fully realizing it. From Jake's grandpa's death, to the discovery that Miss Peregrine and the peculiar children are real, and the relationships Jake builds with them all.

It's very eerie and creepy, which I love. Each character has their own quirks and is all disturbing in their own way. Some of them could have been more developed and explored more, but their unique personalities and abilities made up for it because they left an impression on the story.

The line between fiction and reality is blurred, which enhanced the way I read it. I found that Jacob was actually a pretty reliable narrator, making his acceptance of the peculiar world feel even more believable. I felt like I was piecing together the mystery WITH him.

3.25 stars.
