I love being thrown back into the world with these characters. Every time.
I love James, I really do. Sometimes I think he's really dumb, but what can ya do. The perfect way to describe him is to say that he is Warner but with Kenji's humour. Because that's exactly what he's like.
Something that I think is so special about the dynamic between James and all the original characters, is that James is not scared of Warner at all. He says some things that are so questionable and every one tells him not to push Warner, but he doesn't listen because he was raised by him and Juliette. He knows they love him and that Warner would never do anything that would actually seriously hurt him. And he uses that to his advantage.
I think James' and Rosabelle's relationship is very fascinating. It seems like James is able to force her body out of her fight or flight mode. Her body automatically calms itself when he's around because she trusts him, because she loves him.
Warner just needs to watch them instead of judge them. I know James put them all in danger and everything, but this whole book he has been trying to make up for it, because he KNOWS her and no one trusts him.
They just need to let Rosabelle talk and give her the chance to tell them why she needs to go back to The Ark. Why she has tried so hard to escape. To explain everything. Every time she tries to, they would use her ability against her and kill her for 3 days.
I can't wait for the next one!
4.5 stars.
